Disney Infinity has stormed the “toys to life” gaming scene, putting some heat on Activision’s billion-dollar Skylanders franchise to avoid resting on its laurels. Disney Infinity has won us over with its mix of creative toys, well-designed levels, intuitive world-building tools and pantheon of well-known franchises. Oh, and the prospect of new Disney Infinity figures hitting retail pretty regularly.
Like, say, this October and November. The D23 Expo earlier this summer saw the early and exclusive release of an Apprentice Mickey figure. I’m sincerely bummed that I didn’t manage to snag one. But that was the first new toy in what promises to be an infinity wave of new Disney Infinity figures releasing this year and moving forward.
GameStop‘s website now shows the release dates for new toys that we knew were coming but not when. Now we do. The Disney Infinity Jack Skellington figure now has an official release date of October 5. Since there isn’t yet a playset for The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Jack Skellington figure is only usable in Toy Box Mode — for now.
Another new batch of new Disney Infinity figures will ship on Oct. 22, when the Toy Story Playset is available at retail. The Toy Story Playset will include Jessie and Buzz.
Two other items will ship on November 26: A new Frozen toy box pack with Anna, Elsa and two power discs; and the Power Disc Series 2.
Of these new Disney Infinity figures, Jack Skellington is certainly the most high-profile, and chances are he’ll be the best selling, too. There’s no word of a Zero figure (Jack’s dog), but surely it’s on Disney’s radar and will be announced for a Halloween 2014 release.
