Fresh off the undead streets of Germany, Techland has released a new Dying Light gameplay trailer. The video, which you can watch below, shows a much wider array of open-world environments than we’ve seen previously.
Dying Light is an open-world zombie slasher that even one year ago looked like a must-have title. With the Dying Light release date not scheduled until February 2015, it’s frightening to think just how much more polished the game will get in the months to come.
This new Dying Light gameplay trailer showcases quite a few different environments that exist in the game’s open world. Although the entirety of this footage takes place in an urban setting, the Techland development team has done a great job keeping the environments diverse within that world. No “all concrete” levels here, folks. And that’s a great thing.
Unlike most zombie-slashing games, Dying Light has players navigate the world using FPS controls with parkour-style movement. Up to four players can team-up cooperatively to face the dangers of the day, while a squad may be downright necessary in some points to combat the terrors of the night.
Dying Light’s day/night mechanic isn’t just visual. The undead creatures become more powerful and aggressive when the sun goes down, making the story of Harran’s epidemic all the more harrowing after dusk.
