While Michael Bay finishes up Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon, a film he hopes will redeem him in the eyes of Transformers fans everywhere, Activision’s putting the finishing touches on its Transformers: Dark of the Moon video game, a product with the quite-different goal of continuing the success of its critically acclaimed predecessor.
At GDC, Activision showed off the latest levels of the game, and now they’ve released the screenshots as well (shown below). But before you take a look at the pretty pictures, you should know a bit about the game as a whole. In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which is coming this summer to an Xbox 360 and PS3 near you, players essentially work their way through a prequel scenario as they fight through the epic battles on Earth that shape the events of the upcoming film.
Armed with a new gameplay mechanic, fans will harness the power of “Stealth Force” to instantly convert to a third, hybrid state that combines the weapons and firepower of Robot Mode with the agility and maneuverability of Vehicle Mode. Set in unique environments around the world such as the Jungles of South America, Siberian military facilities and Detroit Cityscapes, the game lets players assume the roles of a diverse roster of Transformers from the movie through a heart-pounding campaign to save mankind. Fans can also play the game with or against their friends through online multiplayer game modes.
