Codemasters today unveiled a new PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter. Called Damnation, the game will ship for both platforms (and PC) this winter. You can see the first Damnation screenshots below.
Billed as a “shooter gone vertical,” Damnation uses iconic landscapes from American history to form the battlegrounds of its post-industrial conflict between humanity and an unstoppable arms dealer obsessed with world domination.
Players will be able to choose their own paths and navigate the world by performing daredevil feats — but enemies will have the same abilities, letting them chase and shoot at players from any direction.
Each level in Damnation will include up to three hours of actual gameplay. Yes, that’s per level. With any luck, the game will have a decent checkpoint system, too. With such large levels and landscapes, it should come as no surprise that players will be able to navigate the world with a selection of vehicles, from stunt bikes to armor-piercing tanks and heavy vehicles.
Damnation will also have “a unique set of multiplayer options that take full advantage of the game’s expansive levels.” We interpret that to mean Damnation will present 32- or 64-player multiplayer games, but that’s just an educated guess.
