A “just married” couple who make games for iPhone and iPad are taking time out from their honeymoon to prepare for their next game’s release. Chris and Katherine Newman of Stoke-on-Trent, UK, ran off to Las Vegas to get married as soon as their latest game was submitted to Apple for review. They tied the knot with a secret ceremony at Caesars Palace on October 5th.
The couple, who publish apps as Lightwood Games, have now heard that Stak Bots, a card game with battling robots, has been approved and it is scheduled for worldwide release on Monday October 21st.
Stak Bots is the studio’s first officially licensed game, based on the card game of the same name, which is published by UK-based DogEared Games. It’s a two-player game featuring a cast of 32 cute (but deadly!) robots and can be played online or in pass-and-play mode. It’s easy to learn and suitable for the whole family.
Any reviewers who would like early access to Stak Bots can request promotional codes by emailing Chris.
Stak Bots follows several other releases by Lightwood Games this year, including Foursies, a brand new take on the classic board game Connect 4, and Word Search 10K, the largest word search puzzle ever made.
