You’re a hardcore gamer. You’ve got a new Xbox 360 with the HDMI port. You’ve got a PlayStation 3 with an HDMI port. You’ve got a cable or satellite receiver with an HDMI port. You’ve got an HD-DVD player and/or Blu-ray Disc player, each with its own HDMI port. That’s a whole lot of HDMI goodness, but unless your TV has the inputs in droves, you’re left doing the unplug/plug shuffle every time you change what you’re watching.
OPPO Digital feels that pain, which is why they’ve unveiled a new HDMI Switch for everyone suffering from HDMI portitis. OPPO Digital’s HM-31 Switch allows three HDMI source devices to connect to a single HDMI input port on the HDTV or video projector, opening the possibility that you’ll never have to crawl behind your set again.
Priced at $99 USD, the OPPO HM-31 is one of the few HDMI switches to pass the official HDMI 1.3 certification test, which ensures compatability with all HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and even PC resolutions up to 1920×1200. The certification also means it’s equipped with advanced HDMI 1.3 features including Deep Color, higher bandwidth and a signal equalizer.
The HM-31 is EIA/CEA-861D, DVI 1.0 and HDCP 1.1 compliant and supports DDC and HPD switching. It comes equipped with an RS232 remote control and can either rest on a tabletop or be mounted on the wall.
