Get ready for a big day on the PlayStation Store tomorrow (Thursday), as a new downloadable game and some marquee-title expansions go live on Sony’s online marketplace. The game, PAIN, as well as a second set of Resistance: Fall of Man map packs will both be available for download starting Thursday morning, along with a host of other content.
PAIN captures the irreverent style of humor found in slapstick movies and online video clips and puts control of the chaos in the player’s hands. As such, it tackles a rarely explored area of gaming: comedy. The core mechanic of the game allows the player to load a character into an extreme launching device (a human-sized, ultra-powerful slingshot) and fire that character into an active, physics-controlled downtown environment riddled with precarious, humorous and sometimes suggestive situations. PAIN will be available for $9.99.
Tomorrow will also mark the availability of a second set of map packs for Resistance: Fall of Man. The two maps, available for $4.99, are Bracknell and Axbridge. Bracknell is a foreboding Chimeran node and Widowmaker breeding ground designed for both vertical and close-quarters combat, whereas Axbridge has the perfect blend of frantic close quarters combat and concealed sniping perches.
