The first games of the NHL season are still a few weeks out, but hockey fans can bide the time soon by getting familiar with a long-lost hockey franchise. 2K Games has announced NHL 2K will return as a mobile game “soon,” allowing all you hockey fans out there to play NHL 2K on your iPhone and Android phone.
The NHL 2K mobile game will be a premium-priced mobile game and be available for $7.99 from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 2K Sports is not working a Windows Phone version of NHL 2K.
With the iPhone 6 coming out soon, the question begs to be asked whether you’ll be able to play NHL 2K on your iPhone 6. All signs point to “yes,” although the exact NHL 2K release date is unknown. 2K simply said the mobile game would release “this fall.”
NHL 2K for iPhone and Android is being co-developed by Visual Concepts and Virtuos Games. Visual Concepts is also actively working on 2K’s upcoming WWE 2K15 for the PS4 and Xbox One home game consoles.
NHL fans and mobile gamers will notice that NHL 2K features enhanced graphics to accommodate the latest screens and processing power of the iPhone 6, iPhone 5 and other leading Android phones. The game includes more than pretty pictures, though, as it will include a detailed “My Career” mode and multiplayer options.
NHL 2K includes several classic game modes such as “NHL Winter Classic,” “Free Skate” and “Shootout” in addition to the new “My Career” mode. The iPhone and Android game also includes a new competitive three-on-three Mini-Rink minigame that lets fans play in a turn-based shootout against their friends.
Other non-local elements in NHL 2K include several new multiplayer options and live roster updates that enable players to add new talent to their teams as they compete to win the Stanley Cup Championship.
The iPhone versions of NHL 2K will also have full MFi Controller compatibility, NHL GameCenter LIVE connectivity and iCloud support.
