Sony has shipped the PlayStation Move for the PS3, eliminating any remaining “Wii envy” for PS3 owners in North America.
The PlayStation Move, for those who have slept under a rock since E3 2009, is Sony’s foray into the motion controller arena, giving PS3 owners a chance to interact with and control their games using gestures a la the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Only better (says Sony).
Sony’s most excited about the precision that PlayStation Move offers, as the lack of precise gesture pickup has been a common complaint of Wii owners on the Nintendo system. The PlayStation Move has apparently refined that for Sony’s PS3, although we’ve not gotten our hands on it yet ourselves and can’t speak first-hand.
The PlayStation Move also supports a variety of genres and games, including sports, shooters, puzzles, party and family-friendly titles, all in high definition. With close to 30 titles announced to date offering PlayStation Move functionality — including Heavy Rain, Killzone 3, MAG, and Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition — it’s safe to say PlayStation Move supports a genre you’ll like.
