Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is about to make its way to North American gamers, as Konami today announced it will release the game in Winter 2007 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PSP and PC DVD-ROM. For those of you keeping track at home, that’s every system other than the Nintendo Wii.
The new game will include a new AI system that actively monitors the player’s onscreen movements and adapts accordingly, forcing players to consider their own strategic play more carefully. Other additions include graphical upgrades and extensive Edit modes in the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC-DVD versions.
Pro Evo 2008 will feature real players, a variety of licensed teams and a plethora of stadiums. As with previous releases, the timing of all shots is completely controlled by the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Dribbling control has also been enhanced, and a number of subtle moves have been added to bypass defenders in order to move the ball into space.
