The R-Type game series has been around for literally decades, appearing on various platforms over the years. Keeping with tradition, R-Type Dimensions for PS3 is now available on the PlayStation Store, mraking the latest update to the classic series.
Initially published by Irem Software Engineering, R-Type Dimensions includes both arcade classics, R-Type and R-Type II. Each title can be played in classic mode or with HD enhanced 2D/3D graphics. R-Type Dimensions for PS3 also includes remastered audio and new features exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 3 console.
Chief among those platform-specific features is the ability to switch between new hi-res 2D/3D graphics with revamped music and the “classic versions” with the push of a button. However, the specific features of R-Type Dimensions for PS3 that most excite us are Infinite Mode and Level Select, the ability to learn the levels inside and out for the perfect, 1CC runs; and a Co-op Mode that two players can play together “couch co-op” style.
R-Type Dimensions for PS3 also includes a slow-motion play function that lets players weave through bullets and enemies, the ability to configure the controller keys to match your play style, worldwide leaderboards, player statistics and PS3 Trophies.
R-Type Dimensions for PS3 is now available for download from the PlayStation Store worldwide. The game costs $9.99 in North America and 9.99 Euros in the European Union.
