Some of my fondest early-3D game memories on PC came at the hands on Motocross Madness, so it always warms my heart to see a new motocross game, especially when it’s the first to appear on iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch). Today, 2XL Games released Ricky Carmichael’s Motocross Matchup, the first mobile game featuring motocross legend Ricky Carmichael, for free on the the App Store, giving players the chance to jump into the world of professional motocross. Vicariously, of course.
Ricky Carmichael’s Motocross Matchup lets players earn real-world rewards for their in-game achievements, which are redeemable via YourRealRewards.com. Through the Real Rewards platform, racing fans can transform their in-game victories into real prizes from companies such as Monster Energy, Suzuki, Turner Motorsports, Fox Racing, Oakley, DC Shoes, Mechanix Wear, Kicker and Jakks Pacific, among others. Some of the prizes include Ricky Carmichael Signature Series Oakley goggles, sheet metal from Carmichael’s No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado, a Ricky Carmichael action figure from Jakks Pacific, a Monster Energy pack, a Replay XD Camera and a Lincoln Electric Leather Jacket. 2XL Games also indicated that Apple iPods and Suzuki dirt bikes up for grabs soon.
Ricky Carmichael’s Motocross Matchup features a gesture-based stunt system to pull off tricks; an RPG-like system that lets players earn wrenches for gas and performance upgrades; and full Game Center integration enabling players to race against, send invites to, and talk with friends in-game using Live Chat. Compete online in a head-to-head Matchup mode that lets players race in real-time against friends and other racers all over the world in order to move up the leaderboards.
