If only Kaz Hirai had announced this during Sony’s E3 2011 press conference…. Instead, a new Ridge Racer game exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation Vita handheld system was unveiled by Namco Bandai, the company that’s both developing and publishing the game.
Details about Ridge Racer for the PlayStation Vita are slim at this point, to the degree that Namco has said “Ridge Racer” is just a working title. However, we have a booth tour with Sony at E3 today that will focus largely on the PlayStation Vita and its games, so we may be able to sneak a peek at it.
We do know that the PlayStation Vita version of Ridge Racer is being directed by Hideo Teramoto, who served as Associate Producer on Ridge Racer for the PSP and Ridge Racer 7 for the PS3.
Namco also said that “players can expect high-speed drifting at break-neck speeds in high-performance racing machines with new exciting new gameplay additions. Drift racing fans looking for edge-of-your-seat action will be able to truly feel the on-screen drama through the revolutionary features of the PlayStation Vita.”
More to come as we learn it.
