The Wii Balance Board will apparently be good for more than just Wii Fit, as EA today unveiled Skate It for the Nintendo Wii. The game will also have a DS counterpart.
EA also announced that Skate 2 is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Skate It will let Wii and DS owners use the “Flick It” controls used in last year’s Skate for Xbox 360 and PS3 as they ride around San Vanelona and do tricks with the pros. However, the Wii version will also support the Wii Balance Board, letting players use the board much like they would use an actual skateboard.
If you don’t have a Wii Balance Board, the alternate method of control on the Wii is the “standard” Wii Remote and Nunchuck combination in which the Wii remote becomes a skateboard and reacts to gestures that mirror actual skate flips and moves.
The Nintendo DS version, meanwhile, will let players use the stylus to string together tricks.
Now, if you’re looking for loads of information about Skate 2, all EA announced was that it’s in development. Presumably screens and/or additional information will follow in the weeks and months ahead, at which point we’ll bring you more details.
