Epic Games, the creators of the Unreal series and Gears of War, aren’t taking the post-Gears-of-War-3 holiday in a tropical location. Instead, they’re hard at work on an all-new franchise called Fortnite. The new franchise, which hasn’t been pinned to a specific platform yet, was first teased during the Video Game Awards this past weekend.
If you missed it — and the chances are high that you did — We’ve got that teaser trailer below.
Fortnite takes place in an expansive original world “that invites players to be creative, resourceful and collaborative by day and defend their prized fortress by night.” Naturally, the game will use the latest Unreal Engine technology, which means the heroes will be chock full of steroids, the environments will all look a bit shiny, and there won’t be much in the way of a lush environment.
I joke. Sort of.
Actually, as you check out the Fortnite teaser trailer below, you’ll see that the game has a completely different look and feel from anything Epic has done, which is really exciting. It feels much more Team Fortress 2 than it does Gears of War, which is refreshing. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
