Johnny Depp was bound to strike out at some point, but Disney was surely hoping The Lone Ranger wouldn’t be the time he did. The movie saw massive struggles in its theatrical release, so it’s safe to say a lot of people haven’t yet seen the film. That could be good news for Disney upon the film’s home release, as we now know The Lone Ranger Blu-ray release date. Disney has surely circled Dec. 17 on the calendar as a day they hope to recoup some of their losses.
The Lone Ranger will ship on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Digital HD and on On-Demand formats on Dec. 17. As mentioned, that will mark the first time millions of would-be fans will have the chance to see a wild ride of high velocity action, explosions and gunfights that brings the famed masked legend to life through brand-new eyes. The Lone Ranger (played by Armie Hammer), the last of his kind, teams with Tonto (Johnny Depp), a dark and mysterious vigilante, to seek vengeance after justice has failed them. It’s a runaway train of epic surprises as these two unlikely heroes must learn to work together before the ultimate showdown between good and evil explodes.
So we know The Lone Ranger Blu-ray release date, but what’s the Combo Pack actually include? Glad you asked. First up is a Blooper Reel (running time of 4:12), as well as a Deleted Scene compilation. A Riding The Rails Of The Lone Ranger featurette (running time of 10:36) will discuss how director Gore Verbinski had a five mile oval track built along with multiple engines and cars. Viewers will be able to see the effort that went into crafting such a detailed and important part of The Lone Ranger.
Next up in the bonus features roster is Armies’s Western Road Trip (running time of 14:28), in which Armie Hammer takes viewers on a tour of the scenic locations the production shot in as we see and learn more about the amazing places he went to become The Lone Ranger.
Rounding things out is an eight-minute featurette called Becoming A Cowboy. Before the cast began shooting the film, they had to learn how to shoot a gun…and ride a horse. In this piece we follow the cowboy (and cowgirl) cast to boot camp, where they got a chance to experience what their characters would really be living like in the Wild West.
