The Lord of the Rings trilogy is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc, New Line has announced to retailers. Although the films do not have a precise release date, it’s widely anticipated that they will ship this holiday season.

Ironically, the Amazon pre-order link for the extended version leads to a cut that hasn’t officially been announced yet; New Line has only confirmed the theatrical version is coming to Blu-ray. However, the extended-release versions may simply be in a holding pattern until they can be strategically released to coincide with The Hobbit.
