It’s not unheard of to get an occasional game update, but free DLC? That’s the plan from CD Projekt Red. In fact, not only is The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC in the cards, but the developer plans to release 16 pieces of add-on content completely free to any PS4, Xbox One or PC gamer who buys the game.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC program will be available for every gamer who owns a copy of Wild Hunt. The free content also applies to all versions of the game: digital or physical, standard or Collector’s Edition.
CD Projekt Red will release the first two The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC packs on February 25, 2015. One of them seems a bit tongue-in-cheek: the Temerian Armor Set with horse armor. The humor in that DLC pack won’t be lost on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fans, who arguably overpaid for that game’s first bit of DLC, horse armor. The second piece of free The Witcher 3 DLC will be a Beard and Hairstyle Set for Geralt, the game’s protagonist.
From that point forward, a new The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC bundle will be available for download every week. Each bundle will consist of two different add-ons, much like the first batch releasing Feb. 25. The DLC will be available to game owners whether the pre-order The Witcher 3 or not. That’s a very cool move by CD Projekt Red.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt release date is February 24, 2015. Obviously that first bit of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC will be available for download the following day. The next bundle will be available on March 4, followed by another batch of free DLC on March 11, and so forth.
The second The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt free DLC bundle will contain an additional quest and an alternative look for one of the game’s main characters, Yennefer of Vengerberg.
