Tomb Raider: Underworld has not yet released, but already PS3 and Xbox 360 fanboys have something to fight about: Eidos has negotiated a deal with Microsoft to create exclusive downloadable missions for the Xbox 360.
The Tomb Raider: Underworld agreement includes the creation of two new downloadable chapters that will contain up to six hours of new gameplay. The new chapters will be available exclusively on Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360.
Eidos also announced that a demo for Tomb Raider: Underworld will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace later this month. Eidos did not specify whether the demo would be coming to PS3.
The two new missions, called Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes and Tomb Raider: Underworld – Lara’s Shadow, will two very different single-player experiences. Beneath the Ashes takes place after the Underworld story has finished and will feature an incredible new environment to explore, additional secrets to unlock and different enemies to fight. Lara’s Shadow, meanwhile, will introduce a new kind of playable character.
The first new chapter will be Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes. It will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace this Christmas. Lara’s Shadow will follow in early 2009.
