Stavropol, Russian Federation – MaxNick today is pleased to introduce Turn ‘N’ Run HD 1.0 for iOS, their 3D platformer that allows players to get a 360-degree view on the action. Players guide an alien as he walks or jumps between floating platforms, collecting gems on the way back to his rocket ship. There is no jump control; players touch a desired destination, and if possible, the alien complies. The rules of the game limit his movement, so that he can only move to a platform that is directly adjacent, as seen in 2D front view. This creates unexpectedly challenging gameplay, since the 3D top view may reveal the adjacent platform to be far in front or behind. Featuring high quality, Retina-display ready, 3D graphics and animation, Turn ‘N’ Run HD includes 60 levels of play spread over 3 different worlds.
Offering console-quality 3D graphics & animation, plus post console-quality resolution and effects on Retina display screens, Turn ‘N’ Run boasts ultra-sharp, real-time, touch manipulation of the 3D game world. It is a world filled with humor, highly detailed, but in a biological rather than a technological sense. The friendly, 3D alien walks enthusiastically across a line of platforms that are in perfect 2D alignment, occasionally tripping over a stone, falling on his face, chuckling, and continuing on. Bulbous, multicolored planets rotate in the background, complete with real-time, surface-dependent lighting effects.
Feature Highlights:
* Turn the array of blocks to find a path back to the rocket ship
* 360-degree views of the game space
* Optional Superguide device will provide hints, showing the best route to the rocket
* Innovative, 3D platformer with no jump control
* 60 levels of play across 3 different worlds
Platforms consist of one or more floating cubes of dirt covered with grass on top. There may be 10 or more onscreen simultaneously, arranged in geometric patterns or stacked. The alien stands on one, his rocket ship on another. Three or more gems may be onscreen, with each occupying the top of one cube. To win, players must collect all the gems and then reach the rocket ship. Gems are displayed in their natural ruby color, if it is possible for the alien to somehow reach and win it in the current view. Gems that cannot be reached in the current view are displayed in gray.
A button at the top right toggles between 2D and 3D views. In 2D, or front view, the camera is locked down and only background objects move; the platforms themselves never move. In 2D, orthographic view, all cubic platforms appear identical, with no depth cues. There is no way of knowing where each platform is located on the z-axis (depth axis), and no way of knowing how many cubes may be behind the frontmost platform. All moves are made in 2D view. The player can drag across the screen to rotate or tilt the view in any direction, and when that which was formerly a side view becomes the new front view, the alien turns on his platform to face the player.
Using the view button to move to 3D viewing mode, the camera assumes an isometric position, looking down on the platforms at a 90-degree angle, as it moves in a circle around the array of floating cubes. Players may drag to stop the movement and view the platforms from any angle, but upon removing their finger from the screen, the view goes back to the default (orbiting, isometric camera). All exploration of the 3D space is smooth and effortless, allowing very fast or very slow movement.
Requiring considerable strategic thinking and spatial visualization at its higher levels, Turn ‘N’ Run HD provides hours of stimulating, graphically advanced, interactive 3D gameplay.
“Simply swipe the screen to rotate the environment, and link up seemingly distant blocks in order to create a path,” advised Nikolay Verevkin of MaxNick. “Climb, ascend, and hop from one block to another on your way back to your rocket.”
