Ubisoft used E3 2013 to unveil a host of new franchises, including The Crew PS4 and Xbox One racing game. The Crew was never going to be a launch title for either system, but the wait isn’t going to be even a full year after the consoles’ respective launches. The Crew release date is later this fall, Ubisoft has announced.
The Crew is an action-driving game that takes gamers on a reckless ride through a massive, open-world re-creation of the United States. Think of it as Need for Speed with a purpose, a nationwide race course that’s also brimming with challenges.
And it’ll also be populated by other real-world players.
The Crew PS4 gameplay trailer, the first time gamers have seen the title in such detail, shows four cars. Each of the vehicles is shown in a different region of the United States. Together, the vehicles form a crew to continue their journey together across the living, breathing open-world.
We’ve embedded The Crew trailer below. It’s also representative of the Xbox One version, but we’ve no idea about whether The Crew will be in 1080p on Xbox One, so don’t ask.
The Crew is now available for pre-order in two different editions for Xbox One and PS4. The Crew Limited Edition version (pre-order it from Amazon) will grant early access to rides that will prepare gamers for any road—and off-road—conditions. Players who pre-order The Crew Limited Edition will also receive early access to the BMW Z4 sDrive35is, Mini Cooper S and Dodge Ram SRT-10, plus their respective sets of full custom and performance parts.
The Crew Muscle Edition, which can only be pre-ordered at GameStop, will include all early unlock content from the Limited Edition and will also grant exclusive early access to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Both Editions include 10,000 bonus Crew Credits.
Again, The Crew release date will be sometime this fall on both PS4 and Xbox One. We’ll bring you info about the specific date as soon as Ubisoft unveils it.
