Atari’s taken a whole new spin on the arcade-classic Centipede franchise, shipping today a shooter called Centipede: Infestation for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS. In the game, which features more than 21 weapons, players must try to hold off a never-ending onslaught of killer bugs using flamethrowers, goofy grenade launchers, laser guns, messy machine guns and pulse guns, among other weapons.
Centipede: Infestation is a run-and-gun shooter with tower defense-style objects that pay homage to the original Centipede. Players assume the role of an orphaned teenager hero named Max as he trudges through the wasteland fighting off giant bugs. Along Max’s travels, he encounters a young teen named Maisy, who possesses a collection of seeds that hold the secret to bringing plant life back to the wasteland. Max and Maisy join forces to grow these gardens and protect the last natural resources on earth.
Centipede: Infestation is available now for Wii and 3DS for $29.99.
