In the hours before Sony’s E3 press conference, the system’s exclusive games are starting to surface. The latest announcement comes courtesy of Sega, which is bringing Virtua Fighter 5 to the PlayStation 3 in Spring 2007.
Notable upgrades in the latest game from Yu Suzuki will include two new characters and new offensive moves. All told, the game will include 17 playable characters.
In addition to fighters from the previous game, Virtua Fighter 5 will feature El Blaze, a Mexican fighting champion who fights with the Lucha Libre fighting style, and Eileen, a Chinese woman who uses the Monkey Kung Fu fighting style. Players will also be able to customize their characters with costumes and various items that can be attached to their body, much like Virtua Fighter Evolution.
In addition, the game will introduce “Offensive Move,” a new maneuver that will allow players to easily approach opponents from the side, adding a more strategic element to the battle.
