For all the energy the NCAA seeding pros put into the men’s basketball tournament, there’s a point where the seeds just stop mattering. Tonight’s Elite Eight game is the lone exception. The Arizona Wildcats, a No. 1 seed, take on the Wisconsin Badgers, a No. 2 seed, in the only 1-2 matchup the tourney has left. Unless we see Arizona meets Michigan in the Final Four. If you can’t catch the game live on TBS, you can watch Arizona vs Wisconsin basketball online free live streaming using a few different services.
The Arizona Wildcats defense should give the Wisconsin basketball team fits tonight in their Elite Eight matchup. Arizona ranks No. 1 in adjusted defensive efficiency and effective field-goal percentage, and they’re No. 2 in two-point field-goal defense. But if the Wildcats get into foul trouble against the Badgers tonight, all bets are off. In a physical game against San Diego State on Thursday night, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson fouled out, and Kaleb Tarczewski played just 20 minutes while dealing with foul trouble of his own. Both Tarczewski and Aaron Gordon finished the game with four fouls.
Arizona can’t afford to get into foul trouble against Wisconsin, which is very good at drawing fouls. In their past five games, the Wisconsin Badgers have gotten Baylor’s Isaiah Austin, American’s Tony Wroblicky, Michigan State’s Adreian Payne and Minnesota’s Joey King to commit at least four fouls. Heck, against the Oregon Ducks, Wisconsin got Richard Amardi to commit four fouls in just seven minutes.
The Wildcats thrive on getting the ball into Tarczewski, Hollis-Jefferson and Gordon in the post, and they also love to send Nick Johnson slashing to the hoop. But if Wisconsin plays like it did Thursday against Baylor, that could be problematic — but could make for great TV as you watch Arizona vs Wisconsin basketball online free live streaming.
Rico Gathers and Royce O’Neale couldn’t even get shots up against Wisconsin. They went a combined 2-of-10 from the field and were blocked four times by Frank Kaminsky. Pack it in and force Gordon to take mid-range jump shots, and the Badgers will be well on their way to victory.
The Badgers’ starting backcourt has been lights out so far in the tournament. Traevon Jackson is 4-of-8 from three-point range, shooting an even 50.0 percent in each of his three games. Josh Gasser is also 4-of-8, despite an 0-of-2 effort against Baylor on Thursday. Ben Brust is an even more impressive 11-of-20. Against an Arizona Wildcats team unaccustomed to dealing with long-range threats, the Badgers could be getting a lot of open looks tonight.
