The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed several milestones already in the 2013 NFL season. They’ve been the only undefeated team for two weeks, for example, and they’re the first team in NFL history to go from the worst record the previous season to an 8-0 record the following season. The Buffalo Bills, meanwhile, have one a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate in Kiko Alonso, and their 3-5 record doesn’t indicate how good they can be on any given Sunday. Needless to say, there are some good reasons to tune into CBS at 1pm EST / 10am PST or to watch Chiefs vs Bills game online free streaming using one of several different methods.
Buffalo has won the past two meetings between the Chiefs and Bills, and those outings weren’t even close. In 2011 the Bills won 41-7, and in 2012 they knocked Kansas City by a final score of 35-17. This season may prove just as one-sided, but not necessarily in the Bills’ favor.
Of the other 20 teams to start 8-0 during the Super Bowl era, every single one has gone to the playoffs. No, Kansas City isn’t likely to go undefeated, but their Week 9 matchup today against the Bills gives them as good a shot as any to stretch their league-leading record to 9-0. In fact, when you watch Chiefs vs Bills game online free or on CBS, the Bills’ 3-5 record will surely be brought up time and time again, because accusations have flown that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid hasn’t had to game plan against any real teams yet.
Looking at the Bill’s stats through eight weeks, you can see why those whispers will rise again. The Bills have a solid rushing game behind running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, who have combined for nearly 800 yards rushing and led them Bills to the NFL’s seventh-rated rushing game. From there, though, it all falls off: 30th in passing, 19th in total offense, and 26th in defense. Again, Bills rookie Kiko Alonso has been incredible so far this season, but he’s largely the lone bright spot for the Bills’ ragtag D. Fortunately for the Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs have managed just the 24th-ranked passing game and 11th-ranked ground game, netting out for a 16th position in total offense.
The Chiefs defense, on the other hand, will do far more than hold its ground like the Bills’ will. The Chiefs’ fifth-ranked defense had four Pro Bowl players coming into the 2013 campaign, and they’ve added some stars in nose tackle Dontari Poe and rookie cornerback Marcus Cooper. Kansas City is just the fourth team since 1970 to allow 17 points or fewer in each of the first eight games of the season. To think they won’t dominate the Bills’ offense is lunacy.
Then again, it’s also lunacy to think you won’t be in for a treat just watching Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles carry his team’s offense once again. You can watch Chiefs vs Bills game online free on DirecTV’s website if you have the NFL Sunday Ticket Package. The package requires a subscription, though anyone who has one can watch the live streaming version completely free. Kickoff for the Chiefs vs. Bills is slated for 1pm EST / 10am PST on CBS.
