The Cincinnati Bengals sit atop the AFC North as they host the New York Jets today at Paul Brown Stadium. Quarterback Andy Dalton is playing out of his mind, and the Bengals are looking for their fourth consecutive victory. Momentum would normally be on their side, but the Jets team they’re going up against at 4:05 EST / 1:05 PST is coming off its biggest win of the season last week, and Jets QB Geno Smith is playing inspired ball as well. This game on CBS is shaping up to be a must-watch, so if you’re not near a TV, you can watch Jets vs Bengals online free live stream using one of several different methods. It may not have glamour on its side, but it should have some impressive moments.
The Cincinnati Bengals rank in the top 20 in every major statistical category so far this season. Their play has been good enough for an 18th spot in Rushing, 12th in total Offense, ninth in Passing and ninth in Defense. Bengals QB Andy Dalton has led the way, having gone 164-249 for 1,924 yards and 11 TDs through seven weeks. Marvin Jones (619 yards) and A.J. Green (247 yards) have been his two biggest receiving targets this year, averaging 15.4 and 14.4 yards per reception, respectively.
But Jets QB Geno Smith, who replaced Mark Sanchez early in the season as the starting quarterback, has himself wiped away all doubt that coach Rex Ryan made the right call. For the season, Smith has gone 130-223 for 1,723 yards and 8 TDs. Those figures have only been good enough for a 31st-ranked QBR, but Smith’s inconsistency has affected that ranking. It’s his clutch play in certain games, though, that’s justified Ryan’s decision, as he’s the only quarterback since 1970 to have four winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in his first seven games. And those have all resulted in a Jets win.
But the host team Cincinnati Bengals have won some recent close games as well behind the foot of kicker Mike Nugent. The Bengals have won three straight, building a two-game division lead over the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, and during the past two games, Bengals QB Dalton has completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 709 yards, six touchdowns and a 119.7 passer rating. Watch Jets vs Bengals online free live stream and see if Dalton can keep up that torrid pace, as his performance during the past two weeks has catapulted him into the #12 spot in QBR.
This game is almost a toss-up in spite of the 5-2 Bengals having a better record than the 4-3 Jets. QB Geno Smith will have to make good, quick decisions against the Bengals defense, which is looking to rebound after a bad performance against the Lions last week. Smith will likely have options, as Cincinnati will be without cornerback Leon Hall. On the other side of the ball, Dalton will have his hands full with New York’s defense as well, which ranks third in the NFL with 24 sacks.
