The Xbox One games list has been panned by thousands of critics as being too short, especially where Xbox One exclusives are concerned. Frankly the PS4 hasn’t fared much better, though you wouldn’t know it by the latest PS4 sales results (7 million and counting). A quick look at the Xbox One games list for 2014 shows things might be turning around for Microsoft, though.
The Xbox One vs. PS4 argument isn’t anywhere near subsiding, with EA being the latest company to say the 2014 holiday is poised to be a “great fight.” Part of the reason it’s going to be a great fight is because Microsoft’s not taking its second-place position lying down. The company has lined-up some impressive Xbox One 2014 exclusives to go with the multiplatform titles.
The Xbox One games list for 2014 includes nine exclusives and no fewer than 29 multiplatform games. Those totals don’t include any ID@Xbox independent games that may release on the console before the end of the year.
Four of the Xbox One’s 2014 exclusives are shaping up to be must-own titles, with the other five intriguing but not go-out-and-pre-order-now in nature. We’ve bolded the Xbox One 2014 exclusives below that we feel are most worth your attention.
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection
- Sunset Overdrive
- Forza Horizon 2
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Dance Central Spotlight
- Disney’s Fantasia: Music Evolved
- Project Spark
- Killer Instinct: Season 2
- Fable Legends (multiplayer beta)
Those are just the Xbox One 2014 exclusives. The full non-exxclusive Xbox One games list for 2014 includes the following:
- Assassin’s Creed Unity
- Alien: Isolation
- Battlefield: Hardline
- Madden NFL 15
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (DLC will appear first on Xbox)
- Metro Redux
- Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Destiny
- NBA 2K15
- Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition
- NBA Live 15
- NHL 15
- Disney Infinity 2.0
- Dragon Age: Inquisition (DLC will appear first on Xbox)
- Evolve
- PGA Tour 15
- Shape Up
- Far Cry 4
- Skylanders: Trap Team
- FIFA 15
- The Crew
- Grand Theft Auto 5

- Just Dance 2015
All of the titles shown on the above Xbox One games list for 2014 are currently scheduled to ship by the end of the year. Clearly there are some must-have games on the multiplatform list as well (which we bolded), so it’s going to be a good year whether you own an Xbox One or not. If nothing else, the list above shows the perceived dearth of Xbox One games is coming to an end.
